Hospice
Even after fighting the most courageous
battles against brain tumors, the war is sometimes lost. When death is imminent
and every possible treatment has been exhausted, there is an organization called
Hospice which is dedicated to easing the dying process for the patient,
caregiver, and family. Hospice is a program designed to provide a caring
environment for the physical and emotional needs of the terminally ill.
The decision to bring in Hospice care
allows the patient the right to his or her dignity in the privacy of their own
home or Hospice facility with the assistance of skilled nurses who work closely
with the patient's doctor and caregiver to allow the last days of life to be as
comfortable as possible.
Hospice professionals assist the caregiver
and family during the last months or weeks of life. They help prepare the
family for the loss of their loved one. Hospice care is extremely dedicated and
focused on every aspect of the end of life process and cares not only for the
patient, but the patient's family as well.
